Cadence, Inc. began in 1985 as Specialty Blades to address the needs of industries, original equipment manufacturers, and medical design engineers who required high performance, razor sharp custom-made cutting blades. The DNA of Cadence is partner with our customers on some of the most demanding requirements for medical “sharps”. Cadence’s proprietary CNC sharpening process that features precisely controlled, multiple step grinding and honing sequences similar to that used on razor blades but optimized for maximum product flexibility. Cadence carries on the tradition of greatness for sharpening and enjoys the reputation as the leading supplier for medical device OEMs. The process lends itself to broader engineering capability with the ability to quickly change forms and sharpening angles via the CNC technology.

Cadence’s engineering team designs and builds its own sharpening equipment. We create unique CNC sharpening machines from scratch and end up with equipment featuring up to 9 precision, computer-controlled axes unlike sharpening resources found around the world. Cadence matches those machines with a unique in-house CAD/CAM package to produce blades of nearly any shape and configuration, within machine limitations. Cadence also has multiple patents for our innovative sharpening processes. This technology is in production providing real benefits to our customers.
