Cadence, Inc. began in 1985 as Specialty Blades in the old creamery building located in downtown Staunton, VA. Founded by engineer, Martin Lightsey, the company developed a proprietary Computer Numerical Control (CNC) sharpening technology to manufacture high performance, razor sharp, custom-made cutting blades. Cadence now employs approximately 200 people at its Virginia facility and remains headquartered in Staunton – the heart of the Shenandoah Valley.
According to SmartAsset’s recent study, “Best Places to Work in Manufacturing – 2020 Edition,” the Staunton-Waynesboro, VA area is listed as one of the top 10 places to work in manufacturing. These results are based off of comparing 378 metropolitan areas across the United States and analyzing various metrics.
