Peter Harris Provides Keynote Address at Tech Nite 11
Harrisonburg, VA - May 4, 2011
Tech Nite is the Shenandoah Valley Technology Council's annual gathering highlighting Valley technology achievement and innovation. On May 3, 2011 more than 250 attendees gathered to recognize the many successes of technology firms, organizations and programs in the region and the entrepreneurs and innovators behind those successes.
Peter Harris, CEO at Cadence, delivered a thought provoking speech on “Driving Growth Through a Lasting Commitment to Innovation” that highlighted the three main chapters of significant growth for Cadence since 1985.
Peter noted, “Innovation is the opposite of complacency. It requires constant irreverence for what currently exists,” and went on to outline in depth how only the paranoid survive…
He also emphasized the critical role that a clear mission has in driving innovative companies. “Missions are the real deal… Improving patient outcomes is what we do, and innovation is its lifeblood. Mission clarity really helps drive innovation – it’s much easier to be motivated if you know why,” he said.
Following Peter’s keynote speech, the winners of the Tech Nite 11 awards were announced. These annual awards recognize and highlight the successes of technology firms, organizations and programs in the region and the entrepreneurs and innovators behind those successes.
