Do you manufacture custom or specialty blades?

Yes. Cadence began as a company called Specialty Blades in 1985.  We can manufacture specialty blades or custom versions of blades to customers' specifications. We can also modify a standard blade design or make a new blade to your specifications.

Do you stock standard blades?

Yes.  We created the Endurium® and Optima® brands of industrial blades as high performance products by significantly extending blade life.  We also distribute OLFA® hand tools and blades through our on-line store at store.cadenceinc.com

What is the minimum order for custom blades and what is a typical delivery?

For most custom blades runs we will have fixed costs starting range between $1000 and $2,000 depending on the complexity of the blade, material specification and tolerances required.   Typical lead time for custom blades can also vary between 4-10 weeks depending on the specifications. We also offer an expedite service reducing the lead-time to 2-3 weeks.

What is a bevel?

A bevel is the angled surface ground on a blade edge to create the sharp edge.  Blades can have a single bevel or multiple bevels.

What is a double bevel, chisel and modified chisel?

These are the three basic edge configurations that can be provided on a variety of shapes and sizes.

Does Cadence offer prototype services?

Yes. Cadence has a prototype department which provides quick turn around on short run prototype parts. We recommend that you consult with our sales or engineering teams before finalizing any design to ensure the most cost-effective production.

What is a one-time engineering charge?

This is a non-recurring charge which covers engineering development, programming and materials/tooling.

Can I get my tooling once a job is finished?

Our company policy states that all tooling remain the property of Cadence.
